Katherine “Jane” Porter Meier passed away on Oct. 29, 2017, in Santa Ana, California at the age 97.
She was born in Nebraska City on Dec. 17, 1919; graduated with a BA from The University of Nebraska and later received a Masters of Arts and Education from Pepperdine University.
Upon graduation from NU, her husband volunteered for WWII and she became a reporter for her local Nebraska City newspaper.
She married Fredrick Jennings Meier on June 13, 1942; they moved to California in 1944.  
She was a school teacher for over 20 years, an active member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church and Retired Association of Teachers and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was an accomplished writer with published works of children’s fiction, short stories and poetry.
She loved the arts, playing piano and reading.
Her husband preceded her in death in 2010.
Her family includes, sons, Mike, Steve and Jack; daughter-in-laws, Anita and Melany; grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Brynna and Johnny; great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Hayden (2009), Trevor and Grant; great-great grandchildren Hayden and Dalton; brother, Mort (2014).
A Memorial Service was to be held Friday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 13922 Prospect Ave, Santa Ana, California with burial at Santa Ana Cemetery, 1919 E Santa Clara Ave., Santa Ana, Calif., and reception at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Munzing Hall.
