Calvin L. Mallette was born to Sherman & Dorothy (Hogan) Mallette on Sept. 21, 1926, in Colome, S.D. He passed away on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017.
He graduated from the high School in Craig.
On Feb. 22, 1946, he married Jean Landholm in Tekamah, and to this union they had three children.
 Calvin worked for the Watershed Department of the Soil Conservation Service retiring after 35 years.
He also retired from the Army Reserves after 30 years. He belonged to the 5th Army Pistol Team where he traveled all around the United States and was awarded many trophies. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post 100 in Syracuse.
Cal is survived by his wife: Jean Mallette of Syracuse, son-in-law: Gary Weiler and Joyce Gilbert of Syracuse, granddaughters: Jill and Brian Thompson of West Des Moines, Iowa, Kam and Chris McCoy of Austin, Texas, great grandchildren: Sarah, Jack andJoe Thompson, River andLake McCoy, sister: Darlene and Edwin Koehler of Pittsburg, Kan., and brother-in-law: Lyle Davis of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, daughters: Susan Weiler and Sandra Hahn, brother: Dan and sister: Dorothy Belle Davis.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Syracuse.
