Julie Maureen Henderson, age 73 of Sidney, Iowa, died April 1, 2017, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  
Julie was born March 13, 1944, in Nebraska City, the daughter of Marshall and Hazel (Horner) Bates.  
She formerly lived in Orem, Utah, and Nebraska City before moving to Sidney, Iowa, eight years ago.  
Julie was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and collected light houses and Campbell Soup memorabilia. She loved spending time with her family and dogs. Julie also loved growing tomatoes.  
Survivors include her sons, Steve Henderson and wife Traci of Oakland; Jim Henderson and wife Allison of Glenwood, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kelsey Henderson, Thomas Henderson, Haille Franzen and Cody Henderson; great grandchild, Kaiden Stone; brothers, Sonny Bates of Nebraska City; Lynn Ericson and wife Jan of Lincoln; sisters, Judy Riceman of North Port, Fla; Jeannie Ahlquist and husband Gaylen of Stromsburg; sister in law, Sharon Bates of Nebraska City; many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her birth parents; adoptive parents, Hazel Anderson, Willard and Inez Anderson; son, Shawn Henderson; brother, Marshall Bates and sister June Martin.
Funeral services were to be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with burial in Wyuka Cemetery of Nebraska City.
Visitations were to be 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
