The Rocket girls' basketball team put up a good fight before falling 55-41 in subdistrict action against Lincoln Christian at Johnson-Brock on Thursday night. Now it appears the program will fight on without longtime Head Coach Tim Isaacs.
Isaacs informed his team after Thursday's contest that it would be his last as the leader of the program.
Isaacs, who has spent 17-years with the program, 10 of those as head coach, said he felt it was time to step aside and allow another coach the chance to take the Rockets to the next level.
Isaacs said he will continue to serve as the Rockets' softball coach and said it would be hard not to imagine him helping with the basketball program in some capacity.
The Rocket team sent their coach out in fine fashion Thursday. After falling to Lincoln Christian earlier in the season in a more lopsided affair, the Rockets gave their foes plenty to worry about Thursday.
S-D-A held leads of 6-2 and 9-4 early. Lincoln Christian closed the first quarter on a 10-0 run, but led by just single digits at halftime.
Lincoln Christian won the third quarter by six points to increase its lead to double figures on the way to victory.
Jordan Lechner scored 17 and Tashia Buller had 14 to lead S-D-A. Coach Isaacs said the Rockets could have easily been in the lead at the half had they done a better job of collecting defensive rebounds, but added that he was proud of the team's overall effort Thursday.
