The Otoe County Board offered its approval Tuesday for an outdoor band fundraiser, orchard wine tasting and Nebraska City street dance.

Nancy Holmquist told commissioners she is planning to sell wine on her property near Eagle on Aug. 21 as a fundraiser for Voices of Hope, a Lincoln crisis center for victims of domestic violence.

She is planning performances by three local folk and bluegrass bands and is seeking a special liquor license from the state to allow Deer Springs Winery to sell wine at the event from 4 to 10 p.m.

Deer Springs Winery of Lincoln is also scheduled to sell wine at the Wine Under the Pines event Aug. 7 at Kimmel Orchard.

Also seeking permits for the Nebraska City event are Nebraska Brewing Company of Papillion, Whiskey Run Creek Vineyard and Winery of Brownville and SchillingBridge Winery and Microbrewery of Pawnee City.
Commissioners also approved use of the courthouse lawn during a street dance on Aug. 21.

Dave Partsch, chairman of the Nebraska City Community Foundation, said Fever and the Funkhouse will play for the second annual street dance.
