The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca softball team opened their new stadium in style Tuesday by besting preseason No. 1 and defending Class C state champion Yutan-Mead with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Madison Cameron, who made a number of key defensive plays at second base, posted a lead off hit in the seventh inning and advanced to second on an error.
Alyx Beckmann brought that run home by drilling an RBI double.
Natalie Hauschild pitched and scored the win in the circle. She posted seven strikeouts and never allowed a runner past first base.
The Rockets will return to action Thursday for a game at Conestoga.
