Andy Burr was elected president of the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Board of Education Tuesday morning, Jan. 12, at the annual board reorganizational meeting.
Burr was elected by ballot 4-2 over Dean Neels. Neels was elected board vice president without opposition. The annual reorganizational meeting was postponed from Thursday, Jan. 7, because of snow.
Superintendent Brad Buller remained board secretary. Jerry Werner remained board treasurer.
Committee assignments were: Finance: Gary Kuenning, Werner and Tyler Crownover; Americanism: Greg Mueller, Crownover and Burr; Buildings and Grounds: Neels, Mueller and Kuenning; and Negotiations: Werner, Burr and Neels.
Perry, Guthery, Haase and Gessford of Lincoln remained legal counsel. Depository banks were unchanged: First National Bank & Trust, Syracuse; Countryside Bank; Heartland Community Bank, Avoca branch and Farmers Bank of Cook, Syracuse branch. The Syracuse Journal-Democrat remained the district's legal newspaper.
Board members will review policies between the Monday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Feb. 15 meetings. Two board members will review three sections each. First reading of changes will be Feb. 15.
Buller was designated in charge of signature cards at the depository banks.
