The S-D-A High School band has had an incredibly successful marching season in 2018. The 47 member band culminated the year with the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association NSBA State Marching Competition.
Director Scott Morris said, “We had our best year by far, and we’ve had successful seasons each year. We’ve seen improvement in doing the details better.”
The work showed in their scores. The band received superior ratings at all competitions. In five weekends of competition, they took home six trophies (up from three trophies in five weekends just two years ago).
At Harvest of Harmony, S-D-A took second place even though they were the smallest of the 16 schools in their class. Additionally, the band competed at Applejack, Falls City Marching Invitational, and Oxbow.
Morris said, “I was happy that we consistently got better and had good rehearsals. Our leadership set good expectations for the group. It didn’t matter the circumstances, the kids would do a good job.”
