The local “Placing of the Wreaths” ceremony took place at Park Hill Cemetery Dec. 16. Across the country, ceremonies are coordinated to place wreaths at the graves of servicemembers. Each year, on a designated Saturday, wreaths are placed in cemeteries in all 50 states. The tradition began at Arlington National Cemetery in 1992 and has grown nationwide. Boy Scouts from Troop 337 and Pack 337 assisted the VFW with the ceremony at Park Hill. After the Placing of the Wreaths, all were invited to the Post Home for cocoa and cookies.
