Massie-Richards American Legion Auxiliary Unit 100 met at Post Home December 5, 2017. The meeting was called to order, colors were advanced and a prayer was read. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the National Anthem, and recited the Preamble.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. Treasurer, Linda Holz, reported on the bank balance and CD balance as of November 30, 2017.  
Committee reports for the month:
Americanism—Chairman Therese Juilfs reported that the SDA teachers were treated with snacks during Education Week.
Sunshine—Chairman, Claretta Royal, reported sending several sympathy cards this past month.
Community Service—Chairman Jenice reported that she and Lois Johnson attended the Middle School Veteran Recognition Day in November and awards were presented. Bingo was held at Good Sam, with 2 members volunteering. The Christmas fruit plates will be prepared on December 9th at Jenice’s. The Community Service Committee, along with some junior members, will put the plates together. Anyone else who wants to help is welcome.  
Girls’ State—This year’s fee will be $375 per girl. Rates will likely go up next year.
Meals on Wheel—Jenice thanked all who volunteer and help serve the community.
Membership—Department is asking that dues be paid by Jan. 1, 2018.
Communication—District President, Judy Schwab, reported that Mid-Year Conference will be January 12-14 at North Platte. She is requesting a report on activities and accomplishments from our unity by January 10; details of membership activities with your unit by December 1. There was no Department Report.
Unfinished Business— A discussion was held on if we wanted to participate in donating to the  “Buddy Basket”. These baskets contain cleaning and personal item products that would be given to veterans as they move into the Homeless Veterans apartments in Lincoln, NE. We have already donated some to this project. This was tabled until our January meeting.
New Business—A motion was made and passed to donate to Post Prom.
A Christmas wreath was placed on the front door of Post Home by the VFW and AL auxiliary presidents. A motion was made and passed to pay the VFW for a half the cost of the wreath.
Post Home was decorated for Christmas by the ALA community service committee and the VFW Auxiliary.
There was discussion about doing something for our veterans at times other than just Veterans Day.
It was suggested Valentine’s Day would be a good time to do something.
Members were reminded to add March 10, 2018 to the year books for District 12 Convention in Seward at the Civic Center.
Report due dates are—March 15, 2018—Americanism Essay Contest winners; April 1, 2018—-Poppy Posters.
Reports for District Convention will be needed from the following: History, Prayer, Publications, Poppy Centerpiece
Auxiliary Emergency Fund Bottle—members contributed their change to this.

Announcements—This month’s hostesses were Jenice Bates and the Community Service Committee.  Our next meeting will be January 2, 2018 at Post Home at 1:30 p.m.  Linda Holz will be hostess.

January 12-14—Mid-Year Conference at North Platte.
January 18—Martin Luther King Day
January 27—American Legion/VFW Holiday Party at the Country Club. More details to follow
Members are asked to keep on clipping coupons and saving pop tabs. The meeting was adjourned. The meeting closed with a prayer and the colors were retired.

Members and guests enjoyed a gift exchange, the singing of Christmas carols, and a cookie exchange.
