The upcoming AppleJack festival was among the topics discussed at Monday night’s Nebraska City City Council meeting.
The council approved a request from the Arbor Shrine Club to use 7th Street between Central Avenue and 1st Corso to park parade units and an antique fire truck on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Council members also approved a special designated license request from the Fox Center, LLC, to use 5th Street between Central Avenue and the alley north of Central Avenue for a beer garden and street dance during the festival.
Amy Allgood, executive director of Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce,  made additional requests  relating to the festival during the meeting. All were approved by the council.
During the meeting, council members took the following actions:
Passed Resolution 2755-17 approving the use of $10,000 in City of Nebraska City Economic Development Program Growth Funds as a grant for the property at 611 Central Ave.
Approved the application for a grant from FEMA/NEMA for mitigation funding to help pay for a generator set and associated equipment for the South 9th and South 3rd Street Sanitary Sewer Lift Stations.
Approved the application for litter reduction grant funds to be used to obtain a chipper for the Nebraska City Utilities tree line clearance crew.
Approved the use of grant funding to renovate the infield of Clemmy Holmes Field in Steinhart Park.
The Nebraska City City Council’s next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Bill Davis Room of City Hall, 1409 Central Ave.
