When kids buckle up they may be in for a cool reward starting this weekend.

Nebraska State Patrol Troop A- Omaha is kicking off the “Cones for Kids” summer safety campaign with Runza Restaurants this Memorial Day weekend.

"We're proud to partner with Runza to reward safe behavior," said Captain Brenda Konfrst, Commander Troop A- Omaha. "As we roll into the summer driving season, it's important to foster the habit of always buckling up."

When Troopers find kids properly buckled up or secured in a car seat, they'll hand out a coupon for a free ice cream cone from Runza. Runza has donated 500 free ice cream cone coupons for the promotion.

"The State Patrol does a wonderful job of keeping our communities and roads safe," said Becky Perrett, Runza Restaurants Director of Marketing. "Runza is happy to partner with the Troopers to bring a smile to the faces of little ones during a traffic stop."

"Cones for Kids" starts Friday, May 26 and will run through Labor Day weekend, as coupons last.
