The American Legion Auxiliary Essay Contest winners were announced March 8.  Eighth grade students submitted essays for the competition, and the top three were chosen by Auxiliary members Bev Wilhelm and Therese Juilfs.
First place winner Brady Reichmuth received $25 and will advance to the district competition.
Cole Walters received second place and $15; Burk Farley was chosen as third place and received $10.
Students answered the essay topic “How does learning about our government and our America help you become a future guardian of the liberties of our country?”
Reichmuth’s essay focused on equality and ensuring that rights were guaranteed to all.
She said, “Learning about these rights can help us guard and protect them!  Without these rights, our country wouldn’t be what it is and our country would be torn apart.”
