For the first time in two years the Perry Jayettes (2-0) have begun their season undefeated after a lopsided 46-10 victory over the host Des Moines Polar Bears.
It was a decisive Monday victory from the opening tip as the Jayettes spurred off 15 straight points while freezing  their host to zero.
In the second quarter the Polar Bears finally got on the board with two points but the road team continued to their assault with nine more points.
After the half, it was all Jayettes as they closed out the final 16 minutes on a 22-8 run.
Johanna Diw, Jayette junior, led all scorers with 14 points on 5-for-13 shooting, and 3-for-6 from the line. She also grabbed four rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Both starters, senior Grace Marburger and freshman Molly Lutmer, contributed 10 points each. Marburger finished with a double-double after hauling down 11 boards, and led the team with four assists.
Mike Long, Jayette head coach, so far has seen his team execute on both ends on the floor with the defense continuing to make gains after the 60-56 victory over the Newton Cardinals on Nov. 22.
“Newton was a lot better team than North was,” Long said. “We actually played pretty good defense both games. We rebounded better against north.”
As a team the Jayettes finished with 16-for-56 from the field, 6-for-23 from beyond the arc, 8-for-14 on free throws, 37 rebounds-25 defensive and 12 offensive, with 12 assists and six steals.
