Steady rainfall Friday met with freezing temperatures overnight, leaving southeast Nebraska with a heavy, ice-encrusted 8-12" blanket of snow by the time the storm passed by Saturday afternoon.
At least the brisk wind couldn't cause much drifting with the wet snow, and the temperatures hovered around 30 degrees, making the cleanup a little more bearable. Many people in the area had no power, due to snapping branches downing electric lines.
The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 21-17 to claim the Super Bowl XLVI title Sunday in Indianapolis. It is the fourth championship for the franchise and the second for quarterback Eli Manning, who was named Super Bowl MVP.
