Steady rainfall Friday met with freezing temperatures overnight, leaving southeast Nebraska with a heavy, ice-encrusted 8-12" blanket of snow by the time the storm passed by Saturday afternoon.

At least the brisk wind couldn't cause much drifting with the wet snow, and the temperatures hovered around 30 degrees, making the cleanup a little more bearable. Many people in the area had no power, due to snapping branches downing electric lines.

One unhappy sidenote — even though Unadilla Bill predicted an early spring, a smaller than anticipated crowd was able to help him celebrate Groundhog Day Saturday due to difficult travel conditions.
