An Otoe County service dog assisted the Nebraska State Patrol Friday morning to find 15 pounds of marijuana in a vehicle pulled over on the J. Sterling Morton Beltway.
Chief Deputy Mike Holland said a state trooper stopped a 2002 Suzuki SUV on the beltway and requested a service dog after a conversation with the driver, 65-year-old Dennis V. Bauman of LaPine, Ore.
The service dog Pablo, who is handled by Deputy Brian Briley, indicated the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle. The state patrol reports that the marijuana was found in a large tote bag in the cargo area of the vehicle.
Bauman was pulled over for suspicion of speeding in the 55 mph zone on the beltway.
He was held at the Otoe County Detention Center for suspicion of possession of a controleld substance with intent to deliver.
