George D. Fannon, 74, Syracuse, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital. He was born April 26, 1935, at Maryville, Mo., son of George E. and Goldie (Gilbert) Fannon. He married Marilyn Danner July 3, 1960, at Bedison, Mo.
Fannon was a retired teacher and truck driver. He was a member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge No. 57, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (A.F. & A.M.); the Syracuse Lions and Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn, Syracuse; daughters Benita Thummel, Otoe; Colleen and husband Mike Jorgensen; Angela and husband Cory Clark; son David, Lincoln; grandchildren, Lindsey, Trentin and Seranna Thummel; Steven Fannon; and Jazzmin and Gunner Jorgensen; brothers Verlin, and Robert and wife Gerri, all Conception Junction, Mo.; and Forest and wife Donna, Stanberry, Mo.; and sister, Sharon and husband James Williams, Fillmore, Mo.
He was preceded by his parents and a brother, Larry.
Services will be Thursday, Sept. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Nebraska City.
Pallbearers will be: Steven Fannon, Trentin Thummel, Gunner Jorgensen, James Christolear and Mackenzie Jeffrey.
Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Lindsey and Seranna Thummel and Jazzmin Jorgensen.
Memorials are suggested to Swinfer Cemetery; Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge No. 57 A.F. & A.M. or the Syracuse Lions.
